Launch of Talk2Me Foundation

Talk2Me Foundation is a local non-profit dedicated to the holistic empowerment of the girl child. The Foundation was officially launched on 11th October 2024 at Amasaman Methodist Church, during the celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child.

The date was chosen with intention. The International Day of the Girl Child is a global moment to insist that girls are seen, heard, and given a fair chance. For Talk2Me Foundation, the launch was the public beginning of that work in Ghana: a commitment that girls should not have to struggle in silence, and that communities, families, and partners have a role in lifting their voices.

The programme was held under the theme “Elevating Girls’ Voices for Sustainable Development.” The theme placed girls at the centre of the day’s conversation - not as beneficiaries on the sidelines, but as people whose education, wellbeing, and leadership are part of how communities grow.

The launch introduced Talk2Me Foundation to stakeholders, community members, and potential partners. It was an opportunity to say, clearly, who the Foundation is and what it exists to do.

The day highlighted the Foundation’s commitment to empowering girls through education, mentorship, advocacy, leadership development, and community engagement. Guests were invited not only to witness the start of the organisation, but to walk with it - as collaborators, supporters, and advocates for girls’ rights and opportunities.

The programme featured presentations and discussions on girl-child education, empowerment, and sustainable development. Speakers and guests reflected on why girls’ voices matter, and on the practical work required to turn that conviction into programmes that reach girls where they live and learn.

The gathering also created space to engage stakeholders and begin partnerships. From the outset, Talk2Me Foundation positioned its work as something that cannot be done alone: schools, churches, community leaders, and organisations all have a part in promoting girls’ rights, wellbeing, and opportunities.

The launch marked an important milestone for Talk2Me Foundation. It laid the ground for the programmes and partnerships that have followed - from menstrual health and school support to sexual and reproductive health education, mental wellbeing, and national recognition of the Foundation’s work.

The Foundation remains committed to creating opportunities for girls to develop their potential, build confidence, and contribute meaningfully to society. The promise made at Amasaman Methodist Church on the International Day of the Girl Child continues to guide that work.
