Mental Health Awareness at Saint Sylvanus School

A school visit on gender-inclusive mental wellbeing, learning outcomes, and school retention, in collaboration with Selasiat360Living.

Background

Talk2Me Foundation, in collaboration with Selasiat360Living, visited Saint Sylvanus School to educate and empower children on the importance of mental health awareness.

The visit sits within the Foundation’s wider work: helping children understand their emotions, speak up, and support one another. Mental wellbeing is treated here as part of learning, not as a private struggle a child should carry alone.

Theme

The visit was held under the theme “Promoting Gender-Inclusive Mental Wellbeing for Improved Learning Outcomes and School Retention.”

The theme joins three things that are often kept apart. Mental wellbeing belongs to girls and boys. When children are supported to understand their feelings, they are better able to learn. And when a school is a place where it is safe to speak, children are more likely to stay.

Activities

Through conversations and learning activities, children were encouraged to understand emotions, speak up, and support one another. The sessions were built for participation, not for a lecture that ends when the visitors leave.

In a simple, safe space inside the school, girls and boys could talk about feelings, listen to each other, and see that asking for help is a strength. Gender-inclusive wellbeing, in this setting, meant that every child in the room was invited into the same conversation.

Conclusion

Together with Selasiat360Living, Talk2Me Foundation continues to build healthier minds and stronger futures for every child. The Saint Sylvanus visit is one expression of that commitment: mental health awareness in the place where children already spend their days, so that learning and wellbeing grow together.
